Sue Foster (Jones)
My story is one of Aviation, I joined Ansett ANA as a young Air Hostess in 1964, in those ancient days it took over 8 hours to fly from Adelaide to Darwin! I married in 1968 and women had to leave flying upon marriage. I eventually became a flight hostess with Qantas Airways in 1979 after having to wait until divorce etc due to the laws at the time.
I have just retired this year after 32 wonderful years flying the skies around the world when it was a great job with good conditions unlike today. I have spent my life travelling to many countries having magical experiences and I was able to often catch up with Gis Olbrich who always took the time to show me her beautiul Germany, a hidden gem in europe.
My memories of Balwyn High School are very vague but I do remember having to take german lessons in the laundry, the teacher was Greek I think , I failed every exam unfortunately even though my mother's maiden name was Sonnenberg! I think I found out early in my high school years that Matric was out of my reach! I did apply to teacher's college stating I wanted to teach the Aboriginal children, needless to say I was rejected!
What a life I have had, selfish no children or responsibility but so many memories and laughter.
