I am sorry I will not be with you all reminiscing times long gone. I have many fond memories of my school years, particularly at the start of every school year – would we be having Mr McCance for Science or Mr Norman for English? Mr McCance had the nickname Snoop, but there wasn’t a nickname for Mr Norman that I knew of! Other memories include Richard Nancarrow – a member of the Aust Boys Choir, singing The Happy Wanderer in German classes & the rest of the class was supposed to sing along with him. None of us got any where near hitting those high notes! A big thank you to the many pranksters who provided light relief from the general slog of classes. I particularly remember the beer bottle filled with water which was labelled School Spirit, left outside the VP’s office.
My teaching career began at Karingal H.S. & finished at Balwyn H.S. I was at Balwyn for 8 years (I think). I spent a total of 14 years at Balwyn – must be some kind of record! There is also another family connection to Balwyn H.S. – my daughter Amber, an old MacRob girl married Rohan Schaap, an old Balwyn High boy!
I hope you all have a wonderful evening.
Regards
